Palestinians, for the majority of the 20th century, have been portrayed by the mainstream media, in some capacity or another, as the enemy of a free Jewish people. The news media narrative does not often address the brutality of the Israeli occupation and the effect it has on every day Palestinian people.
The Gaza strip among several other prominant Palestinian locations are regularly subjucted to rolling electrical or internet blackouts. This hinders many Palestinians from being able to regularly communicate with the outside world, regarding what is happening during the occupation.
The reality is, most Palestinians fear speaking up because of the retribution it may bring. There has been a long known practice of econmic pacification levvied against the Palestinians and it is the only way they can have peace. With such little security in place, the Palestinian voice is often lost.
After being deployed into the Gaza Strip Joseph, (working for an NGO at the time) recognised a lack of accurate media dialogue surrounding the Palestinians suffering, or events as he was experiencing them.
We spent eight years researching the principles of linguistics, news media theory and having lived in experience (through my time with multiple NGO's) and academic experience of Palestine itself.
We started designing the web page in March 2020 and as you can see now, it's entered its final stage. As we will always be adding new contributors to the site, we recognise that the final stage can never end, as it's always growing.
The addition of multiple countries, all with their own sub page and list of local, news based references.
